Summary
‘Sea Monkey’ is a very fine example of the Beneteau Antares 12. When initially offered to the boating public in 2005 the Antares 12 could be specified with either the newly introduced Volvo IPS system or conventional shafts. This 2006 model has the latter and her power is provided by the preferred option of twin D6-370 ‘s providing effortless cruising in excess of 22 knots. Described as ‘Sure Footed and quick steering’ by Powerboat and RIB magazine, she is a dream to helm.
She is a beautiful looking boat with deep V hull and flared bow finished in navy blue gel. Large companionable flybridge with excellent visibility and sunbathing options.
Below decks features two ensuite cabins with a further double in the saloon. Eberspacher heating in all cabins extends the season. Other features include teak laid cockpit and side decks, comprehensive electronic navigation package including Max Sea software package, AIS and a cockpit grill with ice maker.
Vessel serviced in December 2024 and hull antifouled with topsides polished in February 2025
Mechanical
Vessel powered by twin Volvo Penta D6-370 inboard diesels. This level of power is a perfect match for the Antares 12’s 9,900 kgs displacement. These 6-cylinder workhorses have completed 780 serviced hours. Most recent service in December 2024. The engines are mid-mounted which enhances manoeuvrability at low of displacement speeds. The engine bay can be accessed via the cockpit and allows for easy servicing and daily checks. For more investigative process there is access via the saloon floor.
Dual helm with fly by wire Volvo controls. Full engine instrumentation including rev counters, oil pressure, temperature and charging. Reduction gearboxes driving stainless steel shafts and 4-bladed bronze propellers.
Electrical
There are both 12V and 240V systems on board. The cabins and galley are fitted with 3-pin outlets for use when attached to shore power. There is a bank of 7x12V batteries providing engine start, domestic and bowthruster power. These are operated at the 12/240V switch panel located adjacent to the helm position. The batteries were all replaced in September 2024.
The batteries are recharged via the engine alternators or the onboard Dolphin All-In-One smart charger. Galvanic isolator
